Britain’s biggest Bingo brand Buzz Bingo has officially opened in Surrey Quays – with a celebration led by a local Bingo-loving mother and daughter duo.
Local residents Angie McIlvernon, 69 and Loretta McIlvernon, 31, are much-loved members of the Surrey Quays Bingo club. They joined the Buzz Bingo team on Saturday 9th February to perform a special ribbon cutting, officially declaring the club open, with all customers in for a chance to win a £500 mega prize draw on the night.

The launch of the new club comes as new research reveals people in London play Bingo in order to feel part of a community and meet new people. “My mum first took me to play Bingo at the club when I turned 18 and we’ve been going together ever since,” said Loretta, who works in Surrey Quays. “My mum’s retired now, but she’s still always on the go and we go to the club twice a week. It’s not about winning for us – it’s the friendly atmosphere and community feel that keeps us going back.”
Loretta and Angie are very close and try to do as much as they can together, even sharing their Bingo winnings. “I was born on my mum’s birthday, so we always celebrate together at the club,” continued Loretta. “The club has always looked after us really well so it’s a lovely honour to be asked to be VIPs at the launch party.”

Local Marketing Business Partner, Claire Ashton said: “The club could’ve chosen a celebrity or footballer for their opening, but instead they wanted to honour people who mean something to the club. That’s why Susan, the General Manager chose Angie and Loretta, who represent all of Buzz Bingo’s Surrey Quays customers past and present – they’re the ultimate VIPs! It’s a truly fantastic gesture from a club built from its community roots.”
